Are you driven by a passion for creating a safe and secure environment for all? Mackay Regional Council is seeking a committed Facility Operations Officer to become part of our Property Services team. This position is offered on a temporary job share contract until March 2026. It is a part-time role (26.25 hours per week) designed to offer flexibility and accommodate diverse working arrangements.

What We are Looking For:

We welcome applicants with experience in Contractor Management, Procurement, Building Maintenance, or Security. Even if you lack expertise in Security Systems, we are happy to provide training for candidates with the right attitude and technical proficiency. In this role, you will collaborate with the team, analyse data effectively, and deliver valuable insights to the organisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure workplace health, safety, psychological well-being, and hygiene.
  • Manage security contracts, access control, and alarm responses.
  • Collaborate with staff, contractors, and consultants to meet operational needs.
  • Develop and implement a sustainable security framework for built infrastructure.
  • Supervise contractors for minor projects, adhering to WHS standards.
  • Oversee compliance with contractual obligations, policies, and procedures.
  • Support the implementation and use of the Council's Asset Management System.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications in Business Administration, Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in contractor management, supplier coordination, and network building. Administrative expertise with knowledge of security and key management systems.
  • Familiarity with Local Government procedures and diverse infrastructure portfolios.
  • Strong data analysis skills for driving operational improvements.
  • Proficiency in corporate systems, security platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Discretion in handling sensitive matters with a proactive and problem-solving mindset.
  • Flexibility for varied working hours and domestic travel, as required.
