Iris
Darwin Full-day Full-time

Description:

The Role

Join WRM Water & Environment and launch a hands-on career in Water Resources Engineering from our Darwin office – where the projects are large, the landscape is wild, and your work will make a tangible impact.

Working with the broader WRM team on projects all across Australia, you'll contribute to solving complex challenges related to flooding, stormwater drainage, water management, and water quality. From day one you’ll be involved in data analysis and modelling using hydrologic, hydraulic, and water management tools for projects spanning major infrastructure, mining, development, and floodplain management.

With a structured training program and a dedicated mentor to support your career development, you’ll be guided on your pathway to RPEQ certification and beyond.

We offer flexibility around your start date—from November 2025 through to January 2026—and can also provide paid casual work (e.g. one day per week and during university holidays) if you’re still completing your studies, giving you valuable experience ahead of full-time employment.

Projects you'll contribute to include:

  • Flood modelling in remote and regional settings
  • Water management planning for mines and infrastructure
  • Stormwater drainage design and environmental compliance
  • Water quality impact assessments
  • Engineering infrastructure design including levees and diversions
  • Water balance modelling

You’ll be trained in : TUFLOW, URBS, GOLDSIM, QGIS, 12D, and Python.

This is a permanent, long-term role with structured professional development, including in-house and external training, regular check-ins, and ongoing support.

What we offer:

  • Sensible working hours
  • Flexible work arrangements
  • A rapid technical development pathway
  • Competitive salary
  • Attractive profit-sharing scheme
  • Paid parental leave
  • A team culture that celebrates diversity and connection – with plenty of social activities

You

You’re a graduate engineer with a curiosity for surface water and an adventurous spirit. You’re ready to start your career with a well-respected specialist consultancy and be part of a close-knit team that works across Australia from the heart of the Top End.

With a degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering, you’ll bring:

  • Strong numerical skills and high attention to detail
  • Familiarity with (or the drive to learn) tools such as TUFLOW, URBS, GOLDSIM, QGIS, 12D, and Python
  • A collaborative, positive approach to working in a team
  • Exposure to CAD (AutoCAD or Civil 3D) is a bonus, but not essential

You’ll be technically minded, inquisitive, and keen to question and understand every result.

We welcome graduates currently in Darwin or across Australia who are ready to make the move north for a career-defining opportunity.
