As the Business Manager, you will lead the operational, strategic, and financial direction of SAASL. Your primary focus will be to implement the organisation’s strategic objectives while fostering strong relationships within the soccer community and broader stakeholder network.
Main responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement business plans aligned with SAASL’s strategic goals
- Actively seek and secure funding opportunities, sponsorships, and government grants
- Engage with the soccer community to gather feedback and identify new opportunities for growth and improvement
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, legislation, and regulatory standards
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Board, team members, Office of Recreation and Sport, FFA, FSA, referee associations, local councils, and other sporting bodies
- Lead, manage, and support the SAASL administration team
- Develop and implement an effective operational model for the new Function Centre
- Oversee the League’s financial and commercial operations
- Prepare and present detailed reports to the Board, including annual budgets, ensuring all governance requirements and strategic updates are met
- Contribute to the development of Board meeting agendas and attend monthly meetings
- Report annually at the AGM on all league operations and strategic outcomes
- Attend relevant council and governing body forums on behalf of SAASL
- A strong understanding and passion for soccer
- Proven experience as Business Manager, or in a comparable role
- Proven ability to build strong relationships, liaise with and foster cooperation with a diverse group of people passionate about community sport
- Experience working alongside and supporting a Board and leading the management team
- Experience in financial management, including budgeting, board reporting, and budget controls
- Thorough knowledge of Soccer / SAASL, its rules and policies
- Ability to lead, and a drive to inspire a team to achieve organisation objectives
- Be self-reflective with a learning mindset
- A drive to get things done and be hands on
- Tertiary qualifications in Sports or Business Management (Desirable)
- Hold or willing to apply for a current Working with Children check
