Description:
You’ll connect Queensland. We’ll connect you to an amazing career.
Queensland Rail stands on the foundation of true connection, encompassing the relationships we foster within our teams and the communities we serve across the state. For over 150 years, we've been instrumental in linking people and places, and now we invite you to contribute to our proud legacy and shape a brighter, sustainable future.
About the Role
We’re on a journey to digitalise Queensland rail, and our Digital Centre of Excellence will play a key role in driving this transformation.
As a Principal Business Analyst (AS7), you will be a key contributor to this team, helping lead the adoption of innovative technologies that challenge traditional approaches, solve complex business problems, and bring our digital vision to life.
This is not your typical business analyst role. We’re looking for someone who thrives in agile environments and is passionate about rethinking how we work. You’ll work as part of a newly formed multi-disciplinary team, using human-centred design and agile practices to deliver outcomes through digital technologies. Your ability to elicit, translate, and communicate business requirements will directly influence the success of digital solutions across the organisation.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Identify opportunities and define requirements for digital solutions, collaborating closely with stakeholders at all levels.
- Bring deep expertise in agile delivery and contribute to building new ways of working within a highly engaged and innovative team.
- Leverage Industry 4.0 technologies – like AI, automation, and IoT – to shape solutions that modernise how we operate.
- Translate complex stakeholder needs into clear, actionable requirements that drive value and enable seamless delivery.
- Contribute to the overall success of the Digital Centre of Excellence by enhancing collaboration, embedding human-centred design, and supporting scalable innovation.

- The ability to think strategically while delivering hands-on value through well-defined, quality business requirements.
