Cfo - Chief Financial Officer

Buscojobs
Brisbane Full-day Full-time

Description:

This is a rare chance to step into your first CFO role - or elevate your impact in a commercially focused finance leadership position - with a fast-growing private Group based on the Gold Coast. With operations spanning hospitality, property, and private investment, the business offers real variety, scope, and influence.

The outgoing CFO is stepping away after 3.5 successful years and will be on hand to provide a thorough handover and support your transition into the role. You will inherit a well-functioning finance setup and step straight into a trusted Executive position, reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with senior leadership across the group.

This is a hands-on role with exposure across multiple entities. You will take the lead on performance reporting, cashflow and working capital management, strategic funding conversations, and financial oversight of group operations. You'll also support key projects such as refinancing, acquisitions, and an ongoing entity restructure.

You won't have a large team to manage - but you will lead through influence, guiding junior staff and engaging with banks, advisors, and business stakeholders. The environment is entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and collaborative, with a "work hard, play hard" culture that values people, trust, and getting stuck in. If you're ready to take ownership at executive level, this is the perfect platform to step up and lead.

What you'll do :

In this high-impact CFO role, you'll step into a broad and commercially focused finance leadership position - driving performance and partnering with stakeholders across a diverse private group. With core operations in hospitality and property, you will be trusted to manage financial strategy, reporting, cashflow, and growth initiatives across multiple entities.

Your key responsibilities will include :

  1. Leading the preparation and presentation of board and performance reports
  2. Managing group-level cashflow, working capital, and funding strategies
  3. Assisting with financing and refinancing, including relationships with banks and private funders
  4. Providing commentary and strategic input on venue-level performance each week
  5. Supporting ongoing entity restructure and group-level financial planning
  6. Overseeing annual and half-yearly reporting, tax compliance, and consolidated financials
  7. Guiding junior finance staff and reviewing deliverables prepared by the team
  8. Managing financial risk and supporting commercial decisions across hospitality and property investments
  9. Overseeing key contracts, service agreements, and project invoicing
  10. Collaborating closely with legal, HR, and operational leaders across the group

This is a hands-on executive role where you will be both strategic and detail-oriented - shaping financial direction, building trust at the top, and helping drive the next chapter of growth.

Who You Are :

This is a high-trust, high-impact leadership role - you are someone who thrives on responsibility, influence, and the opportunity to help shape a growing business. You bring a mix of technical strength, commercial insight, and a roll-up-your-sleeves mentality that fits seamlessly into a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

You're naturally curious, hands-on, and highly accountable. You think strategically, act decisively, and know how to build trust at every level - from junior team members to board stakeholders. Whether you're a proven commercial leader or a strong Financial Controller ready to step into your first CFO role, you're ready to take full ownership and grow with the business.

Minimum Requirements:

  • CA or CPA qualified
  • Strong technical foundation across financial reporting, tax, and compliance
  • Comfortable leading strategic conversations on cashflow, funding, and performance
  • Sharp commercial acumen and experience supporting decision-making at an executive level
  • Excellent Excel skills and data-driven thinking
  • Experience in hospitality, property, or private investment is highly regarded
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with the work ethic and communication skills to match
  • Trusted, respected, and ready to be a key voice in the room
