Description
The Role
As a Community Care Worker, you’ll play a vital role in empowering individuals on their journey to recovery from drug and alcohol dependencies. Your work will involve providing compassionate outreach support, advocating for clients’ needs, sharing vital information, and helping build life-changing skills. You’ll also be a key support for families and carers, guiding them as they walk alongside their loved ones toward a healthier future.
In this role, you will provide practical support such as transport, informal counselling, and attending appointments, as well as facilitating relapse prevention, education, and employment workshops. You’ll collaborate closely with government and non-government agencies, mental health and legal services, and other support networks to create holistic, wrap-around care and build strong referral pathways that enhance client outcomes. Outside of client support, you will also provide data reporting and participate in the monitoring and evaluation of the Service.
This position requires staff to work in compliance with the Human Services Quality Framework and the National Quality Framework for Alcohol and other Drugs.
This is a Permanent, Part- time (30.4 hours per week) position with a permanent schedule of Monday to Thursday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm based in Cairns.
Skills And Experiences
To be successful in the role, you will meet the following criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Alcohol & other Drugs, Mental Health, or similar
- Experience in developing and delivering comprehensive individual and group programs to support individuals recovering from drug and alcohol dependencies, as well as their families.
- COVID-19 vaccination status is recommended for this role but not a mandatory requirement.
- Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland and an ability to work in accordance with policies and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society
