We're seeking a proactive and experienced Health and Safety professional to join our supportive and high-performing Projects team. Reporting to the Site Superintendent and the Projects Health and Safety Manager, you'll help shape and implement key safety initiatives across diverse sites and disciplines, supporting safe project delivery through to 2030.
This pivotal role offers a balance of collaboration and high level of autonomy, working across multiple sites with cross functional teams. It's a unique opportunity for a driven safety leader who thrives in dynamic environments and is committed to fostering safe, inclusive workplaces at all levels of project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a Health and Safety Strategy across multiple projects and construction disciplines
- Deliver proactive safety initiatives aligned with business HSE objectives
- Monitor safety metrics, audits, and trend analysis to prevent hazards and reduce impacts
- Create and maintain material risk registers and performance standards for project sites
- Engage with stakeholders from operations to senior leadership to guide and drive safety performance
- Conduct line one (1) and line two (2) assurance activities across Fortescue Project Group
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and integrate best practices and industry developments
- Lead and report on contractor health and safety performance to align with project standards.
- Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety (AQF 6+)
- Tertiary qualification in Auditing (AQF 4+)
- Lead Investigator (ICAM) certified
- 10+ years in construction as a Health and Safety Professional
- Extensive experience in contractor and material risk management
- Proven capability in coaching workers and leaders
- Strong understanding of Australian Standards, international codes, and statutory HSE requirements
- Effective working both independently and in teams
- Strong engagement and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and clear, cohesive writing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (intermediate to advanced)
- Passionate about innovation and leading change initiatives.
