Dambimangari Aboriginal Corporation (DAC) is currently seeking a passionate and capable Administrator to support the Koolan Island Administrator, Cultural Heritage Rangers and the Work Ready Program Project Officer with day to day administration.
Role is based in Derby, WA and relocation support is provided to the successful candidate.
About The Role
The Koolan Island Admin Assistant position supports the KI Administrator, Cultural Heritage Rangers, and Work Ready Program Project Officer with day-to-day administration. You’ll assist in coordinating community-focused projects and programs; help organise logistics and ensure everything from meetings to travel arrangements runs smoothly.
You will also play an active role in supporting the delivery of key priorities under the Koolan Island Co-existence Deed, including Cultural Activities, Recruitment, Training Initiatives, and Advisory Committees.

It has been our home for many thousands of years. We carry the cultural responsibilities of our ancestors to look after Country. Our Country is of great conservation significance, home to many threatened and endemic species, mighty rivers, coral reefs, powerful whirlpools, rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and more than 700 islands.
Dambeemangaddee are part of the Wandjina Woongudd community. We all share a unique body of beliefs and cultural practices going back to Lalai, the Dreaming when the creator beings Wandjina and Woongudd helped shape the land, sea, heaven, and all living things in our Country. They set out how we must look after culture, plants, animals, people, and country to keep them healthy. We maintain strong connections to our land through our Law, Culture, songs and stories. We visit our Country when we can and have set up homeland communities on our remote coastline. We want to return to Country, live on our homelands, regain control, and teach future generations.
About The Corporation
Dambimangari Aboriginal Corporation (DAC) provides a unique opportunity to work closely with Aboriginal people in one of the most remote and spectacular regions of the Kimberley. DAC is a small Aboriginal Corporation dedicated to the benefit of our members, Dambimangari Traditional Owners. DAC is the governing body for all Dambimangari business on behalf of our members, and in line with traditional Law and Culture. We employ more than 30 staff, the majority of whom are Traditional Owners. The Corporation’s key functions include:
Managing Native Title including engaging with mining, tourism and other access and development proposals.Members Services such as health and education.Land and sea management (Indigenous Protected Area, Ranger Program & Jointly Managed Marine Park).Cultural heritage management.Economic development.Visitor management.Cultural programs.Remote infrastructure.Corporate Services including finance, administration and payroll.
Duties Will Include:
Provide administrative support to the KI Administrator and Work Ready Program Project Officer.Support the Cultural Heritage Rangers with on-site administrative needs.Prepare and collate materials for presentations and meetings.Maintain and manage calendars, meeting schedules, and logistical planning.Arrange travel itineraries, accommodation, and catering for meetings and events.Perform general office duties including printing, scanning, and mailing documents.
Selection Criteria:
Previous administrative experience (minimum 2 years)Proficient in Microsoft Office SuiteStrong communication and time management skillsHigh-level attention to detail and problem-solving abilityAbility to work collaboratively and independentlyValid Australian Drivers Licence
