Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Business Services Traineeship Opportunity
NECA Education and Careers, in partnership with the Victorian State Government, is seeking a motivated individual to join a dynamic team within the State Government as part of the Youth Employment Scheme (YES).
The Youth Employment Scheme (YES) offers young people a 12-month, entry-level position in the Victorian Public Service while completing accredited training (Certificate III in Business). YES Traineeships blend on-the-job training with formal education, providing you with valuable work experience as you pursue your qualification.
About the Role:
This full-time Business Services Traineeship is based at the Ballarat office, working as part of a State Government team. You’ll gain practical, hands-on experience across a variety of business functions, helping you develop valuable skills to support your future career. In this role, you'll take on a key front-of-house position, including reception duties and general administrative support—playing an important part in the smooth, day-to-day operation of the office.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Service Manager Business Support to deliver high quality business services that support the Regional Director and Deputy Chief Fire Officer to meet operational objectives and priorities.

Provide customer service, administration and site services, including supporting the management the vehicle pool and applicable contractor management.

Organise and order office supplies and maintain office consumables.

Maintain databases and reporting systems, records management and prepare routine reports.

Assist with the delivery of group and departmental priorities reflecting values of customer focussed and service excellence.

To practice cultural safety by creating environments, relationships and systems free from racism and discrimination so that people can feel safe, valued and able to participate.

You are eager to learn and bring strong organisational and time management skills to the role

You have excellent communication and problem-solving abilities that allow you to work effectively within a team and respond to challenges with a proactive approach.

You can manage multiple tasks at once and remain composed under pressure, while also being open to guidance and support from supervisors.
