Operating Theatre Nurse Unit ManagerLocation: Horsham
Permanent Full-time (80 hours per fortnight with monthly ADO)
About The Role
Are you a dynamic nursing leader passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care? Grampians Health is seeking an experienced and motivated Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to lead our Operating Suite team.
This pivotal leadership role is responsible for providing both operational and clinical leadership across the Operating Theatres, Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU), Day Procedure Unit, Pre-Admission Clinic, and Central Sterilising and Supply Department (CSSD).
As a senior leader, you will play a key role in the planning, development, and implementation of systems and processes that drive clinical excellence. Your responsibilities will include financial and business planning, workforce management, recruitment and development of staff, and maintaining professional standards of education and competency.
You’ll also contribute to strategic initiatives, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and support our accreditation and quality improvement activities, ensuring alignment with national healthcare standards.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership of the multidisciplinary team of the Operating Suite in provision of high quality, safe clinical practice to ensure the peri-operative service meets the needs of its consumers, carers and the communityOversee day-to-day operations of the Operating Theatres, Post Anaesthetic Care Unit, Day Procedure Unit, Central Sterilising & Supply Department (CSSD), and Pre-Admission Clinic.Monitor and manage departmental financial performance, including FTE allocation, equipment contracts, and consumable usage.Support achievement of Statement of Priority activity targets by developing, implementing, and reviewing relevant strategies, including ESIS reporting.Review and optimise theatre performance metrics such as session utilisation, contact hours, and resource efficiency.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)Postgraduate qualifications in perioperative nursingMinimum of five years' post-graduate experience, including senior nursing leadership within relevant areas of responsibilityComprehensive understanding of the broader healthcare environment, with demonstrated experience in perioperative nursing practiceSound knowledge of National Funding Models applicable to perioperative servicesProven ability to deliver a professional, cost-effective theatre service, including financial oversight and business planning
