The Position
We are seeking an experienced professional with excellent stakeholder engagement skills to join a small team working to enable individuals, groups and/or reef stakeholders and partners to achieve positive environmental outcomes for the Great Barrier Reef.
The position will undertake and manage project work packages for the Reef Authority in the delivery of its Reef Education and Engagement Implementation Plan that identifies and articulates how the Reef Authority will work towards and deliver against its corporate objective "enhancing Reef resilience through partnerships, collaboration and education." By working closely and collaboratively with the broader strategic team, locally and regionally based colleagues, and a diverse network of stakeholders, including Traditional Owners, in the coordination, delivery and reporting of engagement projects and activities in order to achieve project success.
The project officer is a vital link in the coordination and delivery role across all regions of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and will build and nurture relationships within the Region, particularly with local government, Queensland and Australian government partners, represent the Reef Authority at key forums (including engaging directly with Mayors, CEOs and other executives of local government); support the delivery of Authority's corporate priority programs and implement and maintain office systems and procedures.
The key duties of the position include
  1. Manage relationships with stakeholders to achieve work area and agency goals by developing and maintaining effective internal and external relationships and support the delivery of project objectives, communicating, and liaising appropriately with stakeholders as required.
  2. Provide expertise, technical knowledge, support and forthright advice in specialist areas across a range of programs or activities that contributes to reef engagement outcomes.
  3. Provide high level project support, including strategic engagement planning and delivery, procurement and contract management, reporting, document production, quality assurance, monitoring and managing project scope and budget and records management.
  4. Identify and implement continuous improvement to the Reef Guardian Council program and strengthen the Reef Authority's reef engagement program delivery.
  5. Prepare and deliver high quality written material, reports and presentations that includes the provision of expert, timely, practical, transparent and risk-based information to the Assistant Director and Director on matters relevant to the Strategic Engagement section.
  6. Support and contribute to the delivery of the Reef Education and Engagement Implementation Plan and more broadly the Reef Education and Engagement Section priority tasks that deliver against the Reef Authority's corporate plan.
