Description:
The Project Support Officer will provide administration support to the Sea Team and supporting the Sea team activities, workshop and operations.The Project Support Officer will work closely with the Project Manager and rangers to coordinate logistical requirements and operations for regional work.
This position is based on Thursday Island but may need to travel across the Torres Strait Region and Northern Peninsula Area.
The key duties of the position include
The Project Support Officer has duties that include, but are not limited to the following activities:
1. Providing administration support to the Sea team, including:
• Procurement and purchasing, asset management, data management, project reporting and acquittal re-quirements.
• The provision of policy and administration support duties including drafting documents (such as community permission correspondence, letters, briefs, reports, and meeting minutes) and partici-pating in TSRA staff meetings and other initiatives.
• Work under general supervision and direction, exercising some autonomy regarding how work tasks are performed in a dynamic work environment.
• Maintain and use information databases including data entry and data retrieval tasks to support program and project objectives
• Perform some basic research and analysis activities for input into Sea Team projects.
• Attendance of staff meetings and representing the project area or agency at meetings, conferences and seminars.
2. Supporting the Sea team's activities, workshops and operations by:
• Working with Sea Team and Rangers to coordinate logistical requirements and operations for regional work.
• Applying processes to identify, plan and deliver projects to meet regional outcomes as outlined in the Regional Plan and LSMU Land and Sea Management Strategy which includes effectively communicating project activities, issues and opportunities to Environmental Management Program Staff, Rangers and key stakeholders.
3. Development of communication products for the Sea Team, including:
• Incorporating culturally appropriate understanding in communication products and processes.
• Assisting in the drafting of a diversity of communications products for Torres Strait communities, and various other audiences, for sharing information, raising awareness and education purposes.
• Accurate communication, with appropriateness and influence with team members, clients and Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal people relating to project activities, issues and opportunities to stakeholders.
4. Forming and maintaining working partnerships:
• Work closely with the Sea Team, Senior Natural Resource managers and Project Manager in developing skills in accordance with the APSC Australian Work Level Standards in relation to the role and to acquire qualifications relevant to higher level role responsibilities.
• Contribute to Sea Team goals and collaborative practice, including cooperating with others to resolve problems to comply with technical or administrative requirements.
• Work across line areas within TSRA and other agencies to build stakeholder relationships and achieve shared program outcomes.
• Supporting productive working relationships in collaboration with Environmental Management Pro-gram staff, Sea Team and Ranger supervisors to develop sea project plans and operation orders.
• Understanding of APS legislative frameworks and policies, ensuring responsible APS procurement.
5. Other duties related to Sea Team projects as directed by the Project Manager (Sea/Marine).
6. Undertake tasks as per directed by the Ranger Project Management.
