About the Opportunity
Consumer and Business Services, within the Attorney-General’s Department, is seeking a dedicated individual to join their dynamic, fast-paced and supportive Licensing team in a full-time capacity. This position will play an integral role in supporting the not-for-profit sector to comply with their governance and reporting obligations by providing advice to charities and incorporated associations, reviewing complaints and assessing applications.
The ideal candidate will:
- Display excellent oral and written communication skills
- Be a critical thinker with demonstrated ability to assess complex applications/complaints against legislation

About the Business
The Attorney-General’s Department (AGD) provides a range of legal, regulatory and other services for the government and people of South Australia. Employing around 1500 staff, AGD promotes justice by protecting people’s rights, holding people to account according to the law, improving safety and contributing to an efficient and fair justice system.
Consumer and Business Services (CBS) is a division of the Attorney-General’s Department and is responsible for protecting consumers, supporting and regulating businesses and recording significant life events for South Australians. CBS is customer focused and flexible in its activities, providing accessible information and services.
The Licensing Branch provides an essential service to South Australian’s seeking to apply for, renew or obtain information on occupational, liquor or gaming licenses. The Licensing Branch additionally administers the voluntary and involuntary barring of individuals as it relates to liquor and gaming. The branch also administers the registration and licensing of incorporated associations, charities and lotteries across the state.
The Senior Operations Officer operates within a complex and changing environment and is required to exercise judgement and decision making in an autonomous role.

Special Conditions for Employment
Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
- Some out of hours work may be required.
- Will be required to exercise Commissioner’s delegations as outlined in Schedule of Delegations.
- May be required to work in any area of Licensing and Registration as determined by business needs.
- Participation in half yearly performance review and development process.
- Actively participate in all mandatory training requirements.
- Abide by the standards in the Code of Ethics for the South Australian Public Sector (the Code), relevant legislation and AGD policies and procedures including AGD People and Leadership Expectations.
