About the Department for Correctional Services
The Department employs approximately 2,000 staff and has responsibility for nine prisons and fifteen Community Correctional offices across the state. Our vision is for a safer community by protecting the public and reducing re-offending. Duties
The Manager Accommodation - Secure is responsible for providing effective leadership and oversight to the secure precinct, Adelaide Women’s Prison with a specific focus on ensuring the development and delivery of offender programs and services with an emphasis on rehabilitation programs targeting criminogenic needs, employment, education, mental health, family needs and recreational activities. This role is also responsible for the operational management of the secure precinct’s daily routine including security and safety, care and welfare, behavioural management strategies, minimising at risk behaviour, specialist case management and delivery of therapeutic intervention for female prisoners with complex needs.
Special Conditions
- Section 47 of the Public Sector Act 2009 applies in conjunction with other provisions of the act and other applicable industrial entitlements.
- The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a National Criminal History Record Check;
- A current South Australian Driver’s Licence is essential;
- A flexible approach to working hours is required;
- Some interstate and intrastate travel will be required which may necessitate overnight absences;
- May be required to work out-of-hours and perform on-call duties or officer in charge of the institution on weekends to ensure the prison is able to meet operational and critical service needs
Requirements
Essential: A degree level qualification in social work or psychology equivalent that gives eligibility to membership/registration with the relevant professional association.
Desirable: Appropriate qualifications in management.
