About the Business Unit:

The Finance and Procurement business unit provides department-wide financial, procurement and workplace services through strategic leadership and setting the direction, policy, processes and partnering with the department to build capability.

The Finance Branch leads the department's efforts to comply with government and legislative financial management responsibilities while driving a culture of strategic financial management across the department, and is responsible for the department's financial and budgetary policies and processes, including statutory reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxation compliance, government reporting (including Standing Directions), and facilitation of the annual budget process.

About the Role:

The Analyst, Financial Governance and Compliance supports the Strategic Finance Governance work program and works closely with the Assistant Manager Financial Governance and Compliance to deliver on priorities and stakeholder coordination and engagement.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Supporting the implementation of a finance-wide compliance framework/program to ensure Finance is meeting its obligations, including compliance monitoring and reporting for leadership awareness, including Standing Directions attestations
  • Assisting with strategic review and publication of policies, procedures and standards to ensure compliance with mandatory financial management policies and frameworks
  • Assisting the coordination of department financial authorisation function including briefing Secretary and Ministers on required updates.

About You:

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Proven experience implementing compliance management framework/programs
  • Practical experience assisting with general administration tasks, including writing various documents using simple and plain language with a fine eye for detail
  • The initiative to take steps to add value for the stakeholder and linking them with other areas as appropriate while monitoring their satisfaction.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary degree/qualification is desirable.
