The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Consultant – Change to provide a critical role within the Western Plains Correctional Centre.
About the Business Unit
The Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group, comprising Corrections Victoria (CV), Justice Health and Justice Services, plays an integral role in developing safer and more resilient communities and in delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.
Western Plains Correctional Centre (Western Plains) is a modern, maximum-security facility focussed on rehabilitation, housing up to 1248 people in custody. Western Plains features multi-purpose infrastructure which is adaptable to the evolving needs of Corrections Victoria and the people in our care. Modern amenities include medical wards, a cultural centre, and vocational training facilities.
Western Plains provides a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to individualised care which motivates, encourages and promotes reintegration into the community. About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, the role will be responsible for leading the implementation of a program of transformative cultural change work at Western Plains. This role will champion cultural evolution within the location, leveraging established change management frameworks, to align behaviours, mindsets, and processes at Western Plains with Corrections Victoria's vision and strategic goals.
As the Senior Consultant – Change, some of your primary duties will include:
- Creating and implementing change management strategies and plans for Western Plains that maximise employee adoption and usage of the changes and minimise resistance. This includes employees with line management responsibility.
- Facilitating cultural change initiatives with the wider staffing groups across Western Plains.
- Developing and executing communications plans to articulate the vision, benefits and progress of cultural transformation.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools.
- Extensive experience leading change management initiatives, demonstrating a thorough understanding of how people go through change and the change process.
- The demonstrated ability to coordinate teams, provide internal consultancy to managers and provide authoritative advice on complex issues.
Qualifications
- A qualification in organisational development and/or change management certification would be highly desirable.
