  • $81,672 - $92,916 per annum/ (pro rata)plus Superannuation in accordance with qualification and experience

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work collaboratively with relevant stakeholders to provide a wholistic approach to supporting children and families within the kindergarten environment.
  • Support and maximise children’s attendance at kindergarten through targeted initiatives, including supporting vulnerable children within the classroom.
  • Address barriers to kindergarten participation for vulnerable families with a particular focus on families with a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background, those known to child protection, refugee and asylum seekers and others experiencing disadvantage and vulnerability.
  • Identify & build the capacity of teachers and educators to support families to engage with and maintain participation in kindergarten.
  • Engage with local stakeholders to support vulnerable families to access other relevant universal services, including Maternal and Child Health and playgroups
  • Support children and families in their transition to primary school, including participating in school transition networks.
  • Make timely and relevant referral to support services, including social workers, preschool field officers and allied health professionals
  • Support the enhancement of processes and systems to improve the early engagement and participation of vulnerable children and their families.
  • As part of the School Readiness Funding (SRF) program, this role will support actions in the access and inclusion priority area. This involves proactive engagement with children, families, teachers and the broader community. Provide support and advice based on data in relation to SRF plans Attendance at local meetings and reporting responsibilities will be required.
  • Actively engage in clinical supervision.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and experience in early childhood, education, health, welfare, social work, community development or community services.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, negotiating and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in working with families with young children, including those who are experiencing disadvantage and vulnerability, and a sound understanding of the factors contributing to vulnerability
  • Experience in adapting systems and processes to respond to community need.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) including the ability to adapt communications, build relationships and gain cooperation of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience working with and engaging multicultural communities, community leaders and families who are experiencing complex situations and barriers to communication.
  • Valid Working with Children Check and or VIT Registration
  • Victorian Drivers Licence
