We are currently recruiting for a permanentpart-time Library Technicianbased in the Broadmeadows Library team of Hume Libraries. The roster is 17.5 hours over three days per week including one eveningshift: Tuesday and Wednesday 10am - 5pm (each with a 45 minute break) and Thursday 5pm - 10pm .
You will contribute to the provision of high-quality library services that meet the educational, recreational and information needs of the diverse Hume community by providing a high level of customer service and assisting in the maintenance of the library collections.
What you’ll be doing:
- Provide excellent customer service on the circulation desk including issuing and returning of items.
- Actively promote library resources and programs to the community.
- Assist the Hume Libraries programs team to plan, deliver, facilitate and evaluate a range of programs across Hume Libraries as required.
- Actively contribute to localised collection maintenance, including reallocating and withdrawing materials.
- Ensure all activities, events and programs are planned and delivered successfully and in accordance with agreed policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Assist in the design and production of creative, attractive, accurate and timely digital marketing screens for library programs advertised in the bi-monthly What's On publication.
- Assist customers with their technology requirements including downloading of e-resources, borrowing and printing.
- You have a Diploma of Library / Information Services (Library Technician) or equivalent post-secondary qualification and experience in a Public Library or a similar environment.
- Ability to communicate with and gain cooperation and assistance from a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Excellent computerskills.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and/or facilitate programs in a library setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use electronic and print-based information resources.
- Demonstrated knowledge of books and literature in general.
- Experience in providing reference and information services to all levels of the general public in a library and other community settings as required.
- Cash handling and reconciliation processes.
