About the roles
Based in Wondai
Permanent Full Time
$65K- $68K per annum + Allowances + Super
Council is seeking a Plant Operator to provide high quality specialist operation of Council's grader and other plant/equipment. This position will work under remote supervision and supervise a team of employees in the absence of the site supervisor/team leader. Duties also include maintaining and servicing plant/ vehicles on a daily basis, read and interpret basic plans, perform general labouring and undertake traffic control. The successful applicant will have proven experience in the operation of a Grader to achieve final trim tolerance and standards on road construction and maintenance works, as well as knowledge of road maintenance, sound literacy/numeracy skills, and ability to complete assigned tasks on time.
Additional Factors
Participation in after hours and weekend work is a requirement of this position.
Level of fitness required to undertake a broad range of physical tasks.
Working outdoors in hot conditions
Mandatory Qualifications
Minimum requirement of a current C Class driver’s licence
General Safety Induction for Construction Worker Certification (White Card)
Certificate of Competency in Grader Operations
Desirable Qualifications
HR Licence and other plant tickets/certifications
Traffic Controller Licence
Certificate III in Civil Construction
Traffic Management Implementation ticket

Skills and experience
**Please address the following key selection criteria items below, as part of your application**
Proven experience in the operation of a Grader to achieve final trim tolerance and standards on road construction and maintenance works.
Knowledge of road maintenance and construction techniques in relation to the use of road grading equipment.
Demonstrated ability to achieve maintenance/construction standards, lead employees and make daily decisions in a team environment.
Sound literacy, numeracy, and oral communication skills.
Ability to complete assigned works duties on time and within required standards.
Demonstrated ability to maintain and service heavy plant and equipment (including pre-start inspections).
