J oin our Emergency Department as a Social Worker and help support our commitment to quality patient care.
The ED Social Work Service is an integrated service within the Emergency Department delivering a high quality comprehensive specialised service to the ED and its patients, with the aim to improve social and emotional wellbeing for individuals and families in crisis situations. Facilitates discharge planning and hospital avoidance strategies for patients from diverse and complex situations. Directly works with community agencies to ensure safe effective discharge outcomes from the Emergency Department, for patients and their families whilst providing support and consultation to members of the multi-disciplinary team.
The Senior Social Worker provides social work expertise to consumers and provides clinical leadership to social workers within the ED Social Work Team. Employees classified at this level are experts within their area and stream of practice and have a significant degree of autonomy and decision making. The position will assist the Team Coordinator of the ED Social Work Service in quality improvement, service delivery and supervision of staff. This position will oversee the operations of the ED Social Work Service in the absence of the Team Co-ordinator.
Service provision utilises a trauma informed care model, working within an inter-disciplinary team, with a rapid response focus, which includes assessment, consultation and intervention. Social work practice includes education, liaison with community agencies, organisation of appropriate resources and effective discharge planning ensuring consumer participation.
The incumbent contributes to the Emergency Department Social Work Service by applying specialised expertise to the development, delivery and continuous improvement of quality clinical work and provides discipline specific assessments, interventions and a consultancy service to the team.
About you:
- Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
- High level interpersonal skills, communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes
- Exercise initiative, analyse complex problems and find practical solutions
- High level skills in multi-tasking, the ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload and balance conflicting demands within a high-pressure environment to achieve positive outcomes for consumers
- Proven experience in delivering high quality and safe care consistent with the National Safety and Quality Health Care Service Standards
