The Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO) is looking for a proactive Website Officer to bring our online presence to life and ensure our website delivers high-quality, accessible, and user-friendly content.
- Offering a competitive base salary starting at $94,700 (commensurate with skills and experience) plus 11.5% superannuation
- Part time (0.6 FTE) fixed term contract until 30 June 2026
- Flexible location, work from home (Australia-wide)

Purpose of the role
To publish and maintain content on the AERO website, and to assist in improving the site analytics, information architecture, design and functionality.
Accountabilities:
- Work with internal stakeholders to prepare their resources for publication on the AERO website, following design and content guidelines.
- Copywrite and update standard fields such as page summaries, introductory copy, related links, metadata, alt text and image thumbnails to ensure content is engaging and consistent.
- Build, publish and edit content using AERO’s content management software (Drupal 10.4), managing workflow from draft to publication.
- Ensure that content meets accessibility standards.
- Assist in building and delivering analytics reports in GA4 and Looker Studio.
- Monitor site health (file sizes, broken links, naming conventions, spelling errors etc.) using the CMS and external monitoring tools.
- Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Production Validation Testing (PVT) for CMS updates.
- Assist the Senior Website Officer in workshopping new design and functionality for the website as required.
Essential requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in appropriate discipline (e.g. digital communications, UX, digital marketing, digital content publishing) or equivalent relevant experience.
- Extensive experience preparing and publishing digital content using a Content Management System (Drupal preferred), including experience working in a project-based environment with publication timelines.
- Knowledge of Digital Service Standards (including performance and security) and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 AA
- Experience in reporting on analytics data using Google Analytics or an equivalent platform.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, including stakeholder management skills, with the ability to provide recommendations and timeframes for work.
- Strong organisation and time management skills.
- Some front-end development skills (HTML, CSS, UX design) and a digital all-rounder skillset will be highly regarded
