Base salary will be in the range $100,554 - $109,496 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 7)

The Principal AV Officer, AV Infrastructure will collaborate with organisational units across the University to ensure AV standards are upheld by contractors undertaking building and refurbishment projects. This role involves engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders across UQ to support ITS in delivering teaching and learning outcomes aligned with the University’s strategic plan. Additionally, the Principal AV Officer will serve as a senior technical resource within the End User Technology team.
Key responsibilities will include:

Coordinate Stakeholder Engagement – Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure AV installations align with UQ standards and meet academic and business requirements.

Oversee AV Installation and Maintenance – Manage AV installation processes, equipment replacement schedules, and ensure smooth handover to support teams.

Maintain Technical Documentation – Prepare and update accurate technical and process documentation for University records.

Provide Technical Support and Ensure Compliance – Address technical escalations, work with vendors, and promote compliance with UQ’s cyber security policies.

Tertiary qualifications in IT or a related field with substantial relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

High-level technical skills and experience in AV support, including systems such as Video Conferencing, AMX/Crestron Control, Audio DSP, and Digital Signage.

Experience with automation technologies and in IT assurance or site supervision on large projects.

Proven ability to coordinate client projects and perform installation activities as needed.

Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving technical issues.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including process and instructional documentation.

Ability to engage and influence stakeholders, collaborate effectively, and mentor junior staff.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and work both independently and in a team.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check, etc.
