Enhance Patient Journeys: Nurse Manager - ED Flow Navigator Role
As the Nurse Manager – Emergency Department (ED) Flow Navigator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and timely delivery of care within the Emergency Department. Your primary responsibilities include real-time monitoring of the patient journey, supporting clinical decision-making, and maintaining productive working relationships to facilitate efficient patient flow and access to care. This role requires proactive escalation and effective implementation of emergency department and SALHN escalation plans.
About the role:
As the Nurse Manager - Emergency Flow Coordinator, some of your duties may involve:
- Providing clinical leadership, support, and advice to nurses and midwives, including oversight of staff allocation, operational management of patient flow and access, and professional responsibility for nursing and midwifery staff.
- Supporting clinical staff in the early identification of "at risk" patients, enabling prompt clinical interventions, and serving as a point of escalation for clinical care as required.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe environment by providing leadership, support, and direction to clinical staff in decision-making and incident management, as well as acting in a designated role during emergencies and after-hours situations.
Please note: This is an after-hours only role.
About you:
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds or who is eligible to hold a current practicing certificate.
- Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
- Registered Nurse with at least 3 years, post-registration, full-time equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated competence in Emergency Nursing.
- Ability to be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within the healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated ability to foster a workplace environment that develops staff potential.
