Project Officers are an integral part of the Wildlife and Threatened Species Operations (WTSO) Branch within the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services & Partnerships (QPWS&P) division. The Branch plays a vital role in delivering effective conservation outcomes for Queensland’s native species and ecosystems and their safe interaction with the community generally.The focus of this role is to support management and Wildlife Officers in various locations, throughout Northern and Far North Queensland who are responsible for wildlife management outcomes. This role will provide assistance and support for projects within the Northern Wildlife Operations team, that contribute to sustainable use of Queensland's wildlife. It will assist with the administrative and internal project support to the Northern Wildlife team, as well as human resource and financial generalist activities. Whilst the position is predominately office based, the role may include some field work ranging from field/site inspections, stakeholder consultation and negotiations, compliance activities, crocodile and/or other wildlife management activities. This position in based in Townsville but may require travel to other locations from time to time, including overnight stays.
