Halls Creek District High School (DHS) is seeking an Education Support Teacher who is dedicated to improving individual student outcomes by employing a wide range pedagogical strategies and differentiating the curriculum to meet the needs of all learners.Located in the Central Kimberley Region between Broome and Kununurra, most students come from the town of Halls Creek and the communities of Mardiwaah Loop and Nicholson Block. A few students commute from several family communities within 20km of Halls Creek, Koongie Park Station (20km) and Lamboo Station (40km).

The Role
The successful applicant will work closely with parents, classroom teachers and outside agencies to develop Individual Education Plans for targeted students. Your duties will include training and mentoring special needs Education Assistants throughout the school. You will ideally have effective classroom management skills to enhance student wellbeing and personal responsibility, be flexible as well as have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to professional learning and a high-level of participation in collaborative team planning.
The Education Support Teacher will ideally have care and consideration for students with special educational needs and demonstrate highly effective teaching practices and a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Halls Creek District High School in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary of $3500 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
