The Role
The key purpose of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) role is to protect Victoria Police from security threats, while enabling the delivery of secure, innovative, digital services. The CISO will grow and nurture the organisation's information management and privacy, cyber security and physical security capabilities and control environments.
Acquitting this purpose will require the Chief Information Security Officer to:
• Lead the strategic direction and execution of Victoria Police's information security strategies and work programs.
• Establish and maintain enterprise-wide information security controls environments that protect systems and data against internal and external threats and maintains data privacy.
• Govern the establishment of information security policy and standards and assure compliance.
• Drive the cultural and behavioural changes necessary to ensure that information security is a prime consideration of every team member within Victoria Police.
• Coordinate the organisation's response to information security incidents and recovery activities.
The CISO will ensure that enterprise-wide information security strategy, planning and delivery aligns with Victoria Police's business and strategic objectives. The position is responsible for identifying, directing, coordinating, evaluating, and reporting on information security risks in a manner that meets compliance and regulatory requirements while enabling Victoria Police to develop an anticipatory response to minimise risk.
Reporting directly to the Chief Digital Officer (CDO), the Chief Information Security Officer will require the ability to establish clear strategic direction and to positively influence and collaborate with stakeholders across Victoria Police, and more broadly across the government and law enforcement sectors, to lead and participate in information security reform agendas.
As a well-regarded leader you will have:
- Superior theoretical and practical expertise in enterprise and information systems security including knowledge of applicable cybersecurity laws, regulations, policies, ethics and experience in program management.
- Demonstrated record of achievement in implementing cyber security governance policies procedures and initiatives, driving continuous improvement in cyber resilience.
- Experience developing and leading high-performing teams.
- Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to scan the environment for trends, anticipate and identify issues and manage their resolution effectively.
- Able to build productive relationships with stakeholders, negotiate, influence and build consensus at senior levels, internally and with customers.
- Relevant post graduate tertiary qualification and Professional Security Management Certification such as – CISSP, CISM or CISA.
Requirements and relevant information:
- Position location will be Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
- The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
