Wunan delivers the Talent Pool Academy in partnership with Royal Life Saving Society WA (RLSSWA) Program across the East Kimberley in Kununurra, Halls Creek, Wyndham, Warmun and remote communities.
The Talent Pool Academy is an innovative response to the employment challenges faced by Aboriginal youth in regional WA. It offers tailored pathways into jobs like recreation offices, lifeguarding, swim teaching, and pool operations, along with culturally appropriate mentoring, paid work experience, and both accredited and non-accredited training.
Wunan and RLSSWA is seeking a Regional Coordinator for the East Kimberley based in Kununurra WA. The Regional Coordinator will manage, oversee, deliver and evaluate the Talent Pool Academy program providing support to you people by equipping them with the skills, confidence, and support they need to secure a first-time job.
Key Duties
The Regional Coordinator will be responsible for;
- Planning, coordinating and delivering day to day elements of Royal Life Saving WA Talent Pool Academy program in the East Kimberley.
- Actively recruiting new candidates to the Talent Pool Academy.
- Coordinating participation in programs with an aim of equipping participants with qualifications in: a. Bronze Medallion b. First Aid c. Pool Lifeguard d. Pool Operations f. Other Vocational Training
- Delivering a Community Rescue Club (Junior Lifeguard program) for primary school students
- on a negotiated scheduled basis.
- Managing and maintaining Talent Pool Mentor casual rosters within budget across each location; Kununurra, Wyndham, and Halls Creek.
- Ensuring program delivery is achieved in line with budget and financial allocations.
- Ensuring compliance against Program funding and sponsor reporting requirements.
- Collating monthly key performance reports and provide comment against Program performance.
- Supporting the ongoing evaluation of program success (including process, impact and outcome evaluation measures).
- Maintaining relationships and communication with key program stakeholders.
- Engaging new program stakeholders to assist with promotion.
- Coordinating logistical elements regional based activities (including booking of flights, accommodation, venue hire and provision of equipment).
- Participating in scheduled supervisory meetings to discuss progress and new opportunities.
Requirements of the role:
- Highly developed communication and relationship building skills including the ability to negotiate, manage conflict, establish trust, network and gain co-operation with internal and external stakeholders.
- Significant experience in working effectively in culturally appropriate ways with Aboriginal young people and people from culturally diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated understanding of past and current issues affecting these communities.
- Service delivery and/or program delivery experience in a sport and recreation, human service, justice, child protection or mental health setting and an understanding of the issues around working collaboratively with agencies to build and develop interagency networks.
- Understanding of youth engagement strategies, time management and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently (with minimal supervision) and as part of a team
Essential Criteria:
- Appointment is subject to a satisfactory National Police Clearance.
- Appointment is subject to a satisfactory Working with Children (WWC) Check.
- Possession of a current Western Australian 'C' or 'C-A' Class Driver’s Licence or equivalent, and the ability to travel in response to organisational needs. This requirement continues for the duration of employment in this position and from time-to-time production of the licence may be required upon request by the employer.
Qualifications and Desirable criteria:
- Experience in program implementation and management
- Staff management and or mentoring experience
- Effective stakeholder engagement
- Bronze Medallion (or willingness to obtain)
- First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain)
- Aquatic Trainer (desirable)
- Pool Lifeguard (desirable)
Pre-employment requirements:
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check (not older than 6 months)
- Current Working with children clearance
- Current Australian unrestricted ‘C’ class Driver’s license
