Qualified Driller – Exploration Department
Aurenne is expanding its exploration team, and we are seeking applications from experienced drillers to join our operation. With three Reverse Circulation (RC) drill rigs in use—UDR1000, Hydco 350, and Austex 350, with a fourth rig on its way, we are looking for a qualified RC Driller to lead one of our rigs and oversee a small team of two offsiders. While mechanical aptitude is important, we do have 2 fulltime drill fitters in our team to ensure the rigs are operational and in good mechanical order.
This is a full-time permanent position on a 2:1 roster with 12-hour shifts, including both day and night rosters. Point of hire is Perth. We offer FIFO from Perth and DIDO from Kalgoorlie options only.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the safe operation of the RC drill rig and team.
- Comply with all Aurenne policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Identify risks in the work area, implementing necessary control measures.
- Conduct thorough inspections to detect potential hazards, ensuring they are addressed with appropriate solutions.
- Oversee rig productivity, efficiency, and safety of the crew.
- Ensure accurate hole progress, sample recovery, and proper handling of samples until transferred to the geology department.
- Allocate tasks according to crew member capabilities.
- Maintain and care for all company equipment on-site.
- Provide regular, concise daily reports, both written and verbal.
- Maintain professionalism while liaising with employees, supervisors, and stakeholders.
- Respect and uphold the values of the local communities in which we operate.
About You:
You are a skilled and experienced driller with strong mechanical aptitude, effective communication skills, and a calm, team-oriented approach. You thrive in remote, outdoor environments, working 12-hour days in challenging conditions, including dust, noise, and extreme temperatures. Your commitment to safety and operational excellence is paramount.
Essential Skills, Attributes, Qualifications & Licenses:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a RC driller
- Certificate III in Drilling Operations.
- National Police Clearance.
- Valid Heavy Rigid Driver’s License.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening.
