Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced and safety-focused Rigger to join our operations based in Burton, SA . You’ll play a key role in the safe and precise movement of heavy structures and components within our fabrication environment.
This is a hands-on role supporting major Defence projects, where quality and compliance with industry regulations are critical. The successful candidate will have strong rigging experience in industrial or heavy fabrication environments and a commitment to upholding high safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely rig, lift, move, and position heavy structural components and equipment
- Interpret lift plans and engineering drawings to determine rigging requirements
- Select and inspect rigging gear such as chains, slings, shackles, and hoists
- Work closely with crane operators, fabricators, and supervisors to coordinate lifts
- Conduct pre-start inspections and participate in safety briefings
- Adhere to all OH&S procedures and site safety regulations
- Assist with the erection and dismantling of structural assemblies
- Report and document hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly
- Proven experience in rigging, preferably in heavy fabrication or Defence-related projects
- Ability to interpret engineering and fabrication drawings
- Strong safety awareness and understanding of lifting procedures
- Capable of working effectively within a high-performance team environment
- Physically fit and comfortable working in a workshop and yard setting
- High-Risk Work Licence – RB, RI, or RA class (essential).
- Dogging Licence (DG) (preferred).
- Construction White Card (mandatory).
- Working at Heights and Confined Space Entry certifications (highly regarded)
- Forklift Licence (advantageous).
