  • Part time (0.6 FTE) temporary position (12-month duration, starting 1 July 2025)

What’s the role all about

Are you a passionate and driven emergency management officer looking to contribute to improving community resilience?

This role would suit a proactive and strategic thinker with qualifications in emergency management or similar and extensive experience in emergency management planning.

We have a passionate and driven team who all work together to deliver outcomes that positively benefit our community.

1 x part-time, 12 month temporary position

What you might do

  • Develop an Emergency Management Policy to guide Council prior to, during and after major emergencies in response, relief and recovery coordination.
  • Review and revise the Port Phillip Municipal Emergency Management Plan and relevant Sub Plans for self-assurance and endorsement by the Municipal and Regional Emergency Management Planning Committee’s.
  • Enhance Council’s understanding and ability to use Datalink Crisisworks for training, exercising, routine usage and utilisation during emergencies.
  • Enhance planning and processes for future emergency relief centre (ERC) activations during emergencies. Lead best practice initiatives in Council’s statutory obligation to coordinate relief and recovery during emergencies.

Who we are looking for

  • Tertiary qualifications in emergency management, or similar.
  • Experience in emergency management planning and policy development, review and implementation.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills.
