The Opportunity
The Portfolio Manager works in partnership with South Australian Government Lead Agencies and provides leadership and direction to deliver South Australian social infrastructure (building construction) projects. This involves the management of risk, time, cost and quality and ensuring a program of complex and/or politically sensitive projects meet the objectives and requirements of government and lead agencies.

The role manages a multi-disciplinary team to ensure comprehensive building project/program advice to government and Lead Agencies, project/program planning, and procurement including preparation and administration of contract documentation. Further, the team reporting to this position oversees construction work performed by industry partners and contractors to ensure compliance with legislation, and statutory processes and procedures.

The Portfolio Manager forms part of the Directorate Management team, responsible for functional leadership and project management.

The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of various General Conditions of Contract and bring extensive experience in leading and delivering major, including politically sensitive, building projects. Their expertise will include managing significant budgets and complex contracts, demonstrating strong leadership and a deep understanding of project delivery in high-stakes environments.

Qualifications/Experience
A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience is highly regarded.

Previous experience in a similar role and in a government agency of similar size and complexity is highly regarded.

Special Conditions
A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.

Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

Tenure of Vacancy
Temporary appointment up to 2 years.

Remuneration
MAS3 - $127,859 pa + superannuation.
