Description:
Coordinator North Sydney Oval Operations
An exciting opportunity to lead the team at one of Sydney's most iconic sporting venues! In this role you will work closely with a wide range of domestic, state, and international sporting codes, helping to establish North Sydney Oval (NSO) as a leading venue and sporting destination in NSW. You will help spearhead meaningful change, encouraging continuous improvement and stakeholder engagement to foster new opportunities and growth at the Oval. Proudly owned and operated by North Sydney Council, our aim is to ensure NSO is a welcoming, safe, and professionally operated complex for all workers and visitors to enjoy.
North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands and a bustling CBD. Our aim is to ensure North Sydney remains a welcoming, well-designed, safe and beautiful environment for residents, workers and visitors.
The role
As the Coordinator of North Sydney Oval Operations, you’ll be the key driver behind the ongoing success and strategic growth of the North Sydney Oval and its associated facilities. This high-profile role is responsible for ensuring the Oval continues to attract and deliver international, state, and domestic events while providing a top-tier venue for the local community.
You’ll lead the operational, logistical, and commercial aspects of NSO, ensuring it remains a standout regional facility through:
Overseeing daily venue operations and event delivery
Developing and managing stakeholder and hirer relationships
Negotiating and maintaining venue hire agreements
Securing new business and event opportunities
Coordinating contractor services for maintenance and venue presentation
Driving strategic improvements to enhance the Oval’s long-term viability and reputation
The person
To succeed in this role, you will bring a well-rounded blend of leadership, event operations, and stakeholder management experience—preferably within the sport, event, or venue management sectors. You pair long-term vision with practical outcomes, and are equally comfortable setting direction as you are managing on-the-ground operations. With a demonstrated track record of delivering high-quality events, you will play a vital role in ensuring North Sydney Oval continues to thrive as a top-tier venue.
If you’ve got a strategic mindset and a talent for turning great ideas into memorable events, then you’re exactly who we’re looking for.
