We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Insurance Officer to contribute to the successful delivery of our department's insurance program. If you are experienced in the general insurance industry who has worked within a corporate or government insurance function or in an account management role and ready to make a significant impact, we want to hear from you.

About the Role:

As a Senior Insurance Officer, you will play a key role in managing and responding to a wide range of insurance queries; have a high degree of knowledge of property, liability, accident and health and travel insurance; and have previous experience in the preparation and submission of property claims and familiarity with general liability claims. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside the Manager, Insurance, within a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage the delivery of DEECA's annual insurance program renewal process including compiling the department's insurance asset register, preparation of the annual insurance questionnaire and progress reports to the Manager, Insurance and Director, Governance.
  • Subject matter expert on DEECA's insurance arrangements and maintain a current knowledge of DEECA's insurance policies particularly with respect to public liability, property (ISR), professional indemnity, accident and health and travel insurance policies.
  • Work with key stakeholders in DEECA to prepare the department's property insurance claims for submission to the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) and manage the resolution of these claims
  • Develop strong working relationships with VMIA staff to engage them on DEECA's insurance program to drive continual improvement in the insurance coverage provided and a focus on looking at gaps in DEECA's current insurance program
  • Bring a whole of DEECA perspective and understanding to the preparation of insurance policy and technical advice relating to DEECA's insurance program including reports to the Manager, Insurance, Director, Governance and DEECA executive management on the status of DEECA's insurance profile, claims and insurable risk issues

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A relevant tertiary qualification(s) in commerce and/or business

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
