About the role

Lead, motivate and mentor a team of Interim Care Residential Workers in providing trauma informed care and support 3 children aged 13-16 years living at our residential care home in Cranebrook .

You will support the children and young people in this service to develop independent living skills, engage in education and remain positively connected to their team of Care Workers, Families, and broader community connections.

This full time position is offered on a maximum term contract through to August 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage home in accordance with the CARE model, legislation, relevant standards, LWB policies and procedures and funding body requirements
  • Provide direct care and support to children and young people within a residential care setting.
  • Be actively present in the home environment, providing role modelling to staff
  • Oversee and participate in the planning and implementation of therapeutic care plans
  • Model and support staff in applying the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) system
  • Create and maintain rostering and staff availability patterns to ensure rosters are within budget and supports healthy work/life balance for all team members.

Skills & Experience

  • A Diploma of Community Services, Youth work or related (A qualification is desirable but not essential for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants with relevant experience)
  • Previous Leadership experience in services that support Children & Young people, ideally within a residential out of home care setting
  • Experience working with children and young people who have experienced trauma and disadvantage.
  • Commitment to complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Training and be assessed as TCI competent within the probationary period.
  • Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) certificate
  • Current Drivers Licence

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, Working with Children Check & NSW Residential Care Workers Register Check

AHS ensures efficient responses to after-hours events that cannot wait until the next business day, reducing on call requirements for our front-line leaders and significantly improving their work-life balance.
