The organisation

Philanthropy Australia (PA) exists to inspire more and better philanthropy. PA is the national peak body for philanthropy, representing over 900 members including trusts, foundations, families, donors, advisers, and not-for-profits. As an independent, not-for-profit organisation, it champions the role of philanthropy in Australian society by providing advocacy, resources, networking opportunities, and thought leadership. Its mission is to inspire more and better philanthropy and foster a generous and inclusive Australia. Through promoting transparency, supporting new philanthropists, and enhancing effectiveness in giving, Philanthropy Australia aims to drive positive social change across the country.

The role

As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Deputy CEO will work closely with the CEO to strengthen Philanthropy Australia’s strategic direction, influence, and impact. This role will provide executive oversight of Partnerships and Practice, cultivating deep relationships with key funders and sector champions, and enabling more effective philanthropy across the membership. This leader must have a solid understanding of membership-based organisations, ensuring that the needs and dynamics of the community are central to their leadership. The Deputy CEO will lead major initiatives, thought leadership, professional learning programs, and sector collaborations, while overseeing the Marketing & Communications and Knowledge & Practice teams. Additionally, this leader will also represent Philanthropy Australia in high-level external forums, contribute to shaping a values-driven organisational culture, and support the success of a growing, high-performing team.
