The Role

Based at our Devonport or Burnie Campus, the Health and Safety Specialist will assist the Senior Manager of Health and Safety by delivering high-quality operational support. This permanent full-time role will involve maintaining and improving management systems, developing bespoke H&S initiatives, and improvement projects all whilst using your integrity, initiative, and sound judgment.

This opportunity will require the ability to travel to various TasTAFE campus locations across the State.

On any given day, your duties may include:

  • Guiding TasTAFE to compliance and safety excellence with your top-notch advice and support!
  • Forging relationships with stakeholders and being a champion of Workplace safety, health and wellbeing, and Injury prevention
  • Crafting and refining H&S policies, procedures and guidance materials to , ensure TasTAFE stays ahead in the industry.
  • Lead engaging training sessions, empowering TasTAFE employees to create a safer, smarter, and healthier workplace for all.

Ensuring WHS systems, records and risk management activities are understood and up to date.

What you bring:

  • Sound working knowledge of WHS laws and regulations.
  • Incident investigation training – ICAM, Tap ROOT or similar
  • Proficiency in MS Office and WHS Management systems that showcase your tech-savviness and ability to navigate databases and records like a pro.
  • Exceptional communication skills that enable you to engage, influence, and train stakeholders, making WHS compliance a breeze.
  • Experience in conducting WHS audits, inspections, and investigations resulting in detailed reports and actionable safety recommendations.
  • Minimum Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety.

A current Working with Vulnerable People registration is required, or the ability to obtain one prior to commencement.
