The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Major Projects, this role Manages the construction administration, supervision and constructability of councils Portfolio of Major Projects Delivery Program.

This role will act as the link between Council and the Head contractor. This is an exciting opportunity to work on some significant major Infrastructure projects with a supportive and progressive Council.

The candidate will have exceptional communication skills and work closely with construction partners ensuring accountability, and instilling a culture of excellence, to ensure all projects are delivered to an exemplary standard and provide high quality outcomes that demonstrate community benefit.

Key Responsibilities

In this newly established high profile and visible role, in one of Australia’s fastest growing municipalities working closely with the Head of Major Projects the successful candidate will demonstrate skills and experience in the following key area’s;

Provide leadership and management in relation to delivery and construction methodologies, contracts selection, constructability reviews, value engineering, construction staging and project formulation (scope, planning, budgeting and programming).
Lead constructability studies, master planning, schematic and concept design, design development, tender documentation, procurement and reporting under Council’s Project Management Framework.
Lead consultation and engagement with internal and external stakeholders and community required to inform project construction and delivery.
Audit Capital Projects Contract Works to ensure it conforms to engineering plans, specifications, quality, material selection and Council standards.
Lead Pre-Commencement meetings, Practical Completion inspections and conduct End of Defects Liability Period inspections.

About you


To be successful in this role you will have the following:

Tertiary qualification with the necessary skills and knowledge gained through further formal qualifications in project management, construction management, engineering or a relevant discipline with significant and diverse experience in both operational areas and leadership.
Substantial experience in construction management, including the planning and delivery of capital projects.
Demonstrated ability to build a high performing team; to provide leadership, guidance and direction to a team, to communicate effectively with staff and key stakeholders; to be able to positively influence key decisions; to make plans that align to Council current and future needs; to role-model the Council values; to build trust with team members and key stakeholders.
Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
