We are currently seeking an Accountant to join our Adelaide team.
About you
This hands-on accounting role will suit someone who is an analytical thinker, has a strong work ethic and is keen to learn and grow with the organisation. You have good interpersonal skills, excellent communication and the ability to work well in a team as well as autonomously. You have high attention to detail, ability to think strategically as well as the ability to deliver operational responsibilities in a changing environment.
About the role
As an Accountant, you will report to the Branch Manager and you will be responsible for the following duties for our individual and corporate clients:
- Preparing taxation returns and superannuation payments.
- Preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements.
- Bookkeeping in Xero, Quickbooks and other accounting software.
- Preparing monthly consolidated management reporting packs, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
- Preparation of financial statements for regular reporting to the Board of Directors, Senior Management and other stakeholders.
- Preparation of half-yearly and yearly annual reports and supporting schedules.
- Financial investigations and audits as required Providing consultancy on monitoring operating costs, organisations' income and expenditure, as well as preparation of monthly balance sheet, reconciliations and system maintenance to our corporate clients.
- Advising on financial and taxation matters.
- Providing consultancy for continuous improvements by introducing and maintaining appropriate accounting systems.
- Assistance with determining accounting treatment for technical accounting issues. Overseeing the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Providing consultancy on the development of budgetary and accounting policies.
- Supervising and training internal staff members.
Qualifications & experience
- Must have at least 1 year of demonstrated practical accounting experience.
- Expert/proficient user of Xero, Quickbooks, Handi Sage and other accounting software.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, advanced Excel skills (including but not limited to Nested If statements, VLookUps, Pivot Tables, Sumifs, Countifs, Match, Index) CA/CPA/IPA/ACCA qualification or ongoing.
- Great communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Candidates with Urdu/Punjabi/Hindi language proficiency will be preferred.
