POSITION OBJECTIVES
The Tourism Officer – Boulia Heritage Complex will be responsible for supporting of programs, initiatives and
strategies that focus on showcasing the Tourism enterprises of the Boulia Shire Council in conjunction with
other staff members of the Tourism portfolio within the Economic & Community Development department.
The department provides tourism advice, service and information to The Heritage Complex which is home to a
marine fossil collection over 500 million years old and one of the most complete Plesiosaurs in Australia. It also
features local indigenous history and early equipment utilised by the settlers and a Heritage listed Stonehouse.
It forms part of the towns tourism attractions which include the Min Min Encounter 45 min animatronics show
of the stories of those who have seen the light. It is a major attraction which sees over 6,000 visitors per year.
• Maintain and develop catalogues of historical date and/or artefacts / display items
• Deliver accurate information sessions to tour groups, visitors and dignitaries
• Gain and maintain sound knowledge of exhibits in all areas of the Complex
• Promote attendance at the Complex by organising various community events/tours
• Keeping up to date information for tourists eg. handouts and brochures etc.
• Promote and heighten the profile of the Boulia Shire as a desirable tourist destination
Mandatory Requirements: C Class Licence, Working with Children (Blue Card)

Base Rate of pay (50 hours per fortnight) $41,965.43
Locality allowance (single) $1,793.10
Superable wage (Base+OAP) 12% $5,035.85
Attract and Retention Allowance (pro rata) $1,724.14
Work Health and Safety Bonus (pro rata) $862.07
Total Annual Salary $46,344.74
Base Hourly Rate $32.2811
