Period of Appointment

3 years.

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.

Duties
  • Undertake duties to implement and administer the Survivor Support Service related to the Commission of Inquiry into the Tasmanian Government’s Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in Institutional Settings (Commission of Inquiry) including the Independent Weiss Review. Inform, and where necessary, develop any required policies, processes and procedures to support the service.
  • Undertake client engagement activities in a trauma informed way, including co-ordination of counselling and psychological care to victim-survivors eligible for survivor support services.
  • Undertake active case management including conducting individual interviews to identify the nature and extent of clients’ needs; assisting individuals to make an application for entitlement; liaising with the individual and other services; monitoring client progress and developing relationships and networks to maintain up to date knowledge about relevant services and supports in other government and non-government providers.
  • Develop and maintain registers associated with the Survivor Support Service, and undertake any necessary administrative functions associated with the day-to-day operations of running the service, including preparing any necessary reports for the Director Victims Support.
  • Develop and contribute to positive outcomes across all levels of government and other organisations, particularly with reference to projects associated with the Commission of Inquiry recommendations and associated service systems.
  • Undertake the preparation and provision of high-level reports, complex submissions, briefings and other correspondence for the Executive Director Justice Support Services and the Director, Victims Support regarding strategy, policy and other client related issues associated with survivor support services and the Commission of Inquiry.
  • Operate as a member of the Victim Support team and undertake any other duties as directed by the Director, Victims Support.
Essential Requirements
  • A degree of at least 3 years duration in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, psychiatric nursing or Counselling or equivalent as provided by a tertiary institution.

Desirable Requirements
