About the Opportunity
The successful applicant will be required to:
- Maintain expertise and a sound knowledge of a diverse range of Standard Operating Procedures and the various modules of the Laboratory Information Management System LIMS
- Confidently exercise initiative and judgement in the presence of SAPOL Officers and escalating decision making as appropriate
- Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in situations of high demand
- Manage competing priorities
- Accountable for security and integrity of samples received and SAPOL requirements to ensure the chain of custody May be exposed to confronting material.
About the Business
Forensic Science SA (FSSA) provides a comprehensive, coordinated range of services to agencies associated with the justice system including the State Coroner, South Australia Police (SAPOL), the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and defence and civil litigants.
We are part of the Attorney General’s Department and the Director, FSSA reports to the Executive Director, Legal & Legislative Services.
Within FSSA there are four scientific/medico-legal operational areas: Pathology, Chemistry, Biology and Toxicology, each analysing materials using a diverse range of scientific equipment and processes.
The operational areas are supported by Administration, Information Technology and Projects, Science Support and Quality, who each provide underpinning services in support of the operational areas.

Special Conditions for Employment
Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
