About The Opportunity
Join Bundaberg Regional Council in a dynamic role that supports community resilience and safety. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining disaster management systems, procedures, and training to ensure the region is prepared for and capable of responding to emergencies. You will lead strategy and delivery for disaster risk reduction, community preparedness, and play a key role in supporting the Bundaberg Local Disaster Management Group to ensure effective disaster coordination and response.
About You
Qualifications in disaster management or relevant discipline and/or substantial experience in the field of disaster management and implementation within the local, state or federal sphere.
High level knowledge of the Queensland Disaster Management Arrangements, as well as experience implementing approaches that enhance disaster prevention, preparedness, response, recovery and adaptation, aligned to state, federal and international strategy.
Working knowledge of the roles and functions of emergency services and regional support operations relevant to disaster preparedness and response including Queensland Police Service, Queensland Fire Service, State Emergency Service and Rural Fire Services.
Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills including the ability to deliver training and present information to groups and individuals in an impactful manner.
Demonstrated research and analytical skills, including the ability to conduct and report on research for disaster risk reduction outcomes.
Proven ability to critically evaluate matters of a sensitive and complex nature and provide senior management with sound and objective advice that ensures informed decision making.
Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects across disciplines, concurrently.
Highly developed interpersonal skills, encompassing consultation, negotiation, influencing, and conflict resolution.
Demonstrated experience in preparing and management of submissions for funding evaluation
Provision of a satisfactory Criminal History Check – Police Certificate (Australia wide – name only),
