Exploring the role

As the WHS Officer, you’ll be responsible for maintaining CoAct’s Work Health and Safety Management System and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, while actively promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Your work will help protect staff and partners while strengthening CoAct’s commitment to wellbeing and safety.

Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining WHS policies, procedures, and safety documentation across CoAct systems.
  • Ensuring incidents and hazards are reported, managed, and investigated in accordance with policy and legislation.
  • Monitoring and updating WHS registers, including site safety and compliance records.
  • Providing advice and support to staff on WHS matters.
  • Promoting WHS principles and sharing regular safety communications.
  • Reviewing and communicating changes to WHS legislation.
  • Assisting in emergency response planning and coordination.
  • Supporting risk assessments and internal WHS audits.
  • Engaging with staff and stakeholders to embed a strong WHS culture.
  • Delivering or coordinating training and resources to support safe work practices.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in a WHS-related role.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Sound understanding of WHS legislation and risk management.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong self-management skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
  • Ability to build trust and promote a safety culture.
  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or willingness to obtain).
