Job Description

Home for Good works to find sustainable solutions for people who are homeless or for individuals, families and children who might become homeless without support. Located in inner-city Brisbane, a range of services are available for individuals and families including information, support, advocacy, health, recreational, and employment services.

These services are funded and compliant with Queensland Government Specialist Homelessness Program Guidelines.

The Transport and Support Worker will be part of the Street to Home team within the Home for Good Cluster. This role focuses on providing support and transportation services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, through both center-based and outreach services.

This is a casual opportunity with conditions and salary at Level 2 of the SCHADS Award.

Desired Skills and Experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to participants presenting to the Home for Good office.
  • Transport individuals and families to appointments, such as Rent Connect and Department of Housing, and assist with application processes.
  • Complete actions on ETO, including phone calls to participants and external organizations to follow up on housing applications and tenancy concerns.
  • Answer and triage phone calls appropriately.
  • Complete, finalize, and submit housing applications, and set follow-up actions for applications requiring further information.
  • Provide immediate crisis response to incoming referrals and triage them appropriately.
  • Work flexibly within Street to Home and Homelessness Hub office to cover lunch breaks and team meetings as required.
  • Promote a culture of respect, safety, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Contribute to a safe workplace in compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.

Essential Criteria:

  • Commitment to social justice.
  • Effective communication style, written and verbal skills, and IT competencies (including Microsoft Office and other IT systems).
  • Commitment to cultural diversity and equity principles.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
