Outback Spirit Tours offers a range of unique adventure tours and luxury short stays across our beautiful country. Our adventures capture the very essence of Australia, from the rugged red cliffs of the Kimberley to the unspoiled natural wonder of Tasmania, we bring iconic experiences to life. We operate 9 lodges in some of the most remote, inaccessible and beautiful locations. Our team of guides, drivers, camp and operations staff are passionate about the outdoors and take pride in bringing our guests on the adventure of a lifetime.

About You

You are a passionate and strategic leader with a strong focus on guest experience and operational excellence. You will bring expertise in operations, and quality, with a proven ability to drive change and lead dispersed teams. Motivating and engaging teams, especially in a remote environment, is central to your leadership approach. You understand that fostering a sense of connection and collaboration is crucial for maintaining morale and driving high performance. Your enthusiasm for empowering team members to contribute their best, coupled with your ability to communicate effectively across diverse groups, ensures that everyone feels valued and motivated.

Your analytical and detail-oriented nature allows you to make data-driven decisions that enhance team effectiveness and ultimately create memorable guest experiences. About The Role

The General Manager, Lodges is responsible for guiding the strategic direction and operational excellence across our 9 lodges and the teams in creating unforgettable experiences for our guests.

You will have the ability to lead, inspire, and develop your team and foster a culture where employees become true ambassadors for our business and are passionate in bringing the guest experience to life.

You will actively participate in achieving key financial objectives and optimising revenue through effective strategies, ensuring operational efficiency and safety across our lodge network. Collaborating with internal stakeholders, you will implement operational plans that meet product requirements and drive exceptional hospitality.

You will have the opportunity to shape the future of our lodges while championing sustainability and community engagement initiatives.

This is a full-time position based at our Darwin office with travel required to our remote lodges.

Key responsibilities will include :

  • Understand and have previous experience in the provision of accommodation including food & beverage operations.
  • Experience in leading and motivating a dispersed team while managing complex operational challenges.
  • Developing and executing strategies that enhance operational efficiency, ensuring the development of systems and processes to support both the operation and team.
  • Fostering an inclusive and engaging team environment by implementing initiatives that promote morale, communication, and collaboration among team members.
  • Identify service gaps, analyse guest feedback, and collaborate with teams to implement impactful changes.
  • Achieving the key financial objectives of the business, with a focus on yield optimisation and EBITDA conversion through efficiencies.
  • Maintain mutually successful and well cultivated relationships with key stakeholders including Government agencies and regulators, Traditional Owners, and other operators to derive ongoing benefit.
  • Ensure the consistent delivery of the business’s products with the highest standards, ensuring that the business is recognised as a market leader in experiential tourism and memorable guest experiences.
  • Manage the effective maintenance, performance and productivity of the asset base.
