The role…
The responsibilities of the role will include but will not be limited to:
Caring for MP+ Clients
- Consistently thinking of and caring for MP+ and its clients
- Strong knowledge and application of the firm’s Vision and core values, services and performance standards
- Supporting and implementing MP+ Vision and core values through visible action, body language, implementation, displaying energy and enthusiasm
- Develop an understanding of the MP+ business and the Accountant role
Communication
- Ongoing development of technical and communication skills both on the job and through formal learning channels
- Build working relationships at peer / client level
- Opportunity to have regular communication with clients to ensure that all are serviced proactively and in line with service standards
- Regular communication with other members of the business services team to ensure issues and opportunities are actively managed and team members achieve their goals
- Regular communication with the other business units to ensure opportunities are seized upon and knowledge is disseminated
Client skills
- Ensure that you understand the client’s objectives and the task objective
- Demonstrate your care for the client by thinking about delivering excellent value which will maintain client retention.
- Develop an understanding of the clients’ business and its needs through conversational questioning, listening and exploring
- Ensure clients’ compliance needs are met, working as an effective team member to complete the job and assigned tasks within budget and within agreed timeframes
- Prepare financial accounts, taxation returns, cash flow forecasts and break-even analyses to enable effective financial management, for all business structures
- Effectively document work performed
- Demonstrate and maintain currency in accounting and tax technical skills both on the job and through formal learning channels.
- Follow up on all meetings and all correspondence as per MP+ service standard
- Ensure client details on the system are up to date and accurate
- Ability to develop effective relationships with clients
- Retain existing clients and develop all MP+ services to all clients
Delivering Value & Commercial awareness
- Communicate the value of the work performed in simple and clear English expressed in business and/or individual outcomes
- Commercial and practical application of ideas that will add ongoing value to clients. Develop solutions for clients and champion the implementation of ideas
- Identify opportunities which you can refer across to all other MP+ business departments during the year to meet clients’ needs i.e. Business Improvements, MPM Finance, Wealth Creation, and PTS
- Communication of the MP+ culture across the team
- Develop deeper knowledge and skills in technical field, while progressing in the selected field of specialisation. Maintain professional development requirements, attend training, reviewing of professional publications, establishing personal networks, participate in professional societies.
Skills And Experiences

The successful candidate for this role will have:

- A willingness to learn
- 4+ years (Full Time) of Australian tax and business services experience gained at a reputable medium-size practice
- A solid understanding of tax and accounting
- Experience of working predominantly on business entities
- A sound knowledge of book-keeping packages and a willingness to further develop their skills
- Ability to work to deadlines
- High level of accuracy and excellent attention to detail
- Direct client contact experience (favourable)
- A desire to achieve progression by way of hard work, smart thinking and going the extra mile
