Job Description
We are currently seeking a dedicated Safety Superintendent to oversee our Safety & Health Management System (SHMS), ensuring it not only meets but exceeds legislative and corporate standards.
As the Safety Superintendent, your role will be pivotal in supporting all site departments by providing technical and managerial support to enhance business efficiency. You'll collaborate closely with senior leaders to achieve expected results while considering safety, environmental, and cost impacts. Coaching and mentoring employees and leaders will be a key aspect, focusing on the SHMS, risk management, emergency response, incident investigation, and compliance assurance.
You'll lead by example, fostering a high-performance culture that reinforces safety behaviours critical to operational success. Effective communication through presentations and stakeholder engagements will be essential, keeping all parties informed of safety plans and innovations on site.
Your responsibilities will extend to maintaining and improving the SHMS to meet legislative and corporate requirements, coordinating regular reviews of risk assessments and procedures, and ensuring accessibility of SHMS documents for all Coal Mine Workers. Budget planning, participation in audits, and delivering SHMS training sessions for supervisors will also fall within your purview.
The ideal candidate will hold tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety, Business, or a related field, coupled with demonstrated experience in a similar role, coupled with extensive experience within the mining or heavy industry sectors. Strong leadership skills, effective communication abilities, and a proactive approach to safety and operational efficiency are essential.
