About the Role
An exciting and rare permanent opportunity has become available within our Safety and Wellbeing team here at the City of Port Phillip. The role of Health and Safety Advisor will see you take the lead on an interesting portfolio with exposure to contractor safety, psychosocial safety, teams with high and complex risk profiles and development of prevention initiatives.
Reporting to the Head of Safety and Wellbeing, you will continue to develop our commitment and dedication to Safety which is supported and committed to by all across the organisation.
This role will see you
- Partner with people leaders across the organisation to proactively support the implementation of the Safety management system framework across Council
- Provide specialist advice across the organisation including complex risk assessment sand incident investigations
- Contribute to the development and implementation of prevention initiatives including supporting the child safety framework
- Deliver and support key governance activities such as internal audit and assurance initiatives
To succeed in this role you will bring
- Expert stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to connect with people leaders at all levels within an organisation.
- Well-developed understanding of legislation, regulations, frameworks, policies and practices associated with Health and Safety
- Experience in developing prevention initiatives and implementation plans
- Experience in a fast paced environment with a commitment to continuous improvement
- A collaborative approach to embedding organisation wide change and improving service and community outcomes.
- Qualification in Safety and/or diverse and extensive experience across complex organisations
