Description:
We're looking for a Strategic Communications Specialist to join our global Communications team on a 12 Month Contract.
At Movember, we believe in the power of words to shift attitudes, spark action, and drive meaningful change. If you’re a sharp writer, strategic thinker, and passionate storyteller, this is your chance to help shape the public conversation around men’s health.
In this dynamic role, you’ll amplify the work of Movember, the Movember Institute, and our global leadership team by crafting clear, compelling narratives that cut through the noise and translate complex ideas into content that truly connects. If you’re passionate about health and gender equality, and you're excited by the chance to use storytelling as a force for impact – we’d love to hear from you.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
• Shape external communications: Collaborate with subject matter experts and leadership to develop messaging that shifts attitudes, drives awareness, and influences policy on men’s health.
• Distil complexity: Turn research and technical program data into clear, compelling content for diverse audiences.
• Lead content creation: Write and edit high-quality communications across formats - from press releases and speeches to op-eds, reports, blogs, and social content.
• Elevate thought leadership: Develop talking points and materials that amplify the voices of Movember’s executive leaders and spokespeople.
• Drive stakeholder engagement: Ensure external communications reflect Movember’s mission and brand across media, partnerships, health, and government sectors.
• Collaborate across teams: Manage the external communications pipeline alongside the broader Marketing and Communications team.
• Track impact: Support campaign performance tracking, evaluation, and reporting to inform future strategies.
For this role, you’ll need:
• Relevant qualifications in communications, journalism, public health, or a related field.
• Experience in external communications, including speechwriting, op-eds, messaging documents, and stakeholder content.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex or technical topics into clear, engaging content.
• Strong planning, coordination, and time management skills.
• Experience navigating stakeholder reviews and feedback across a matrixed organisation.
• A proactive, collaborative mindset and commitment to Movember’s mission.
• Familiarity with gender equality and/or public health issues is nice to have, but not essential
To support your application please upload a sample of your best writing (max 2 pages — preferably a press release, op-ed, or messaging document) in the "Additional Files" box below
GOOD CAUSE:
Working for Movember , you’ll help raise millions for men’s health (not for a CEO’s bonus). And all those dollars do a whole lotta good. We’ve funded cancer research. Created lifesaving medicines. And helped make cancer treatments less “one-size-fits-all”, and more specific to each patient’s needs.
We’re even calling for governments worldwide to get it together on men’s health. By meeting directly with policymakers so they change the systems that change men’s health.
GOOD VIBES:
The vibes aren’t just for Fridays – even though we start weekends early nine months of the year. Here, it always feels like something big’s about to happen. Be it an office-wide surprise birthday party (with cake!) or an impromptu all-staff boogie.
Come the hairy season, the energy gets silly. We’re talking celebrity visits. Live stunts on-site for TV and radio. And when we hit a fundraising milestone, the office gong might even go off. And that means one thing: it’s conga time.
GOOD CREW:
Let’s just get this out of the way: big egos need not apply. We’re all about straight-up solid human beings out to do meaningful work. People who’ll help you reach career-best moments. And give you the freedom to get there the best way you see fit.
Hybrid remote working is the norm. And in the office, you can sit where you please. Who knows? On any given day you could even end up desk buddies with the man who started this all.
- Flexible hybrid working from home and our modern Richmond office
- Finish work at 2pm on Fridays (Dec-Aug)
- NFP salary packaging (pay less tax)
- 13 weeks paid parental leave and 5 weeks annual leave
- Fun & collaborative culture with employee social events
- Free Headspace subscription and other wellbeing initiative
- Relaxed dress code
Boy, do we know the feeling of being judged. (Over how we look, and other things that shouldn’t matter.) Being different is how we started. And it’s also helped us raise $1 billion for men’s health. So, we know the power of diverse experiences, skills and perspectives.
And another impressive number is our WGEA gender pay gap: it sits at a big, fat, round 0%. If you’ve got the relevant skills and the right attitude, let nothing stand in your way of firing off your application.
Do you want to DO GOOD?
If so, we’d love to hear from you.
