Communities Moderator

Location: Sydney
Position: Permanent, start date ASAP

MailOnline is looking for a full-time talented community moderator to join our Australian team.

Our team collaborates effectively online, but we do have an office in Sydney which the successful candidate is able to work from 1-2 days per week if necessary. This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm, with a one-hour adjustment when the clocks change to align with UK business hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor running list of filed copy and make judgement calls on the type of moderation required
  • Moderating reader comments based on house rules and legal requirements
  • Monitor user discussions and flag any issues with senior communities editors
  • Adding Engagement modules to articles

Person Specification:

  • 1+ years’ experience in moderating for digital community boards
  • Prior journalistic experience desirable but not essential
  • In-depth knowledge of current affairs from hard news to celebrity gossip
  • Excellent judgment
  • Knowledge of social platforms
  • Understanding of legal covenants and media regulations
